Here is a snapshot of crimes from 29th May to 06/06/26.

Vehicle crime On 29th May 2026 at 12.30 around the rear of ICELAND STRATFORD ROAD two males on mopeds described as; Black Yamaha ray and a red Yamaha Jupiter have threatened a male for his electric bike, making their escape in a unknown direction. Inquiries are ongoing as this is a robbery.
From 28th May- 29th between 11.12 / 12pm from RALP ROAD a white AUDI unknown offenders have smashed a window stealing a I pad which was inside the vehicle. Ongoing inquiry as forensics attended the scene to lift prints.
On 02/06/26 at 03.00 unknown offenders have gained access to a vehicle on JACEY ROAD stealing headphones and cash. . Local Crime On 31st May at 15.50 two males described as; both black, wearing all black clothing have approached an elderly male at; ICELAND CAR PARK ticket area. They have stated he had parked ‘outside of the white lines’ and asked him to pay a fine of £90. Subsequently one of the males has taking his debit card and walked away. Fortunately, the card was blocked so no money was taken from his account. On 4th June 2026 at 14.59 at 21-35 TESCO STRATFORD ROAD car park. A male has approached a female who was packing her shopping in the car stating she had left something inside the trolley. When she returned to the vehicle her purse had been stolen from the vehicle. Ongoing investigation.
Crime Prevention Advice . Please don’t leave valuable items on show inside your vehicle. Even loose change can be appealing to vehicle offenders. - For crime prevention tips to keep your shed and garage safe please visit our website at https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/protect-home-crime/secure-shed-garage/ . - Consider installing anti-snap locks to all external windows and doors on your home. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent. Try to make the front and rear of your property as well-lit as possible by installing motion activated lighting. - CCTV is a great deterrent for offenders. This can also be crucial in linking criminals to multiple crimes.
Local news - Home Office funding is provided to West Midlands Police to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in areas that are identified as having a high rate of these incidents. As a result, local officers have been conducting targeted patrols in these locations, with the aim of providing a visible presence, engaging with the local community and deterring this type of behaviour. When your local Officers are off duty, these patrols are conducted by policing teams from other areas, ensuring that there is continual coverage. Officers record the results of these patrols, and the information is then returned to the home office. Your local officers have been hard at work conducting these patrols, so please feel welcome to have a chat when you see us. - Shirley officers have now trained volunteers for a brand-new Shirley Speed watch group. This group, along with officers from our team, will be conducting Speed watch operations in the local area to monitor reports of speeding. This data can then be used for speed enforcement in the future.

I am also trying to organise another meeting (date/ time TBC) where local councillors attend to discuss; ASB Off road bikes Shirley Park (various issues). U turns on Richard Lewis Way- have you seen an improvement since enforcement camaras installed and some signage is now nearby?

BE AWARE: Distraction burglaries have been reported in this area. We’ve seen an increase in daytime distraction burglaries where elderly and vulnerable residents being targeted by burglars pretending to be from waterboard and drain company officials.
Please help us to stop this from happening again by following the advice below. Please call us on 101 if you have seen anyone acting suspiciously in this area.
Burglars won't go to the trouble of breaking in if they can just knock and be invited in. So always be on your guard when anyone you're not expecting - a man, a woman or even a child - turns up at your door. Bogus 'officials' may be smartly dressed and claim to be from the council, gas board, health authority or other organisation. Bogus 'dealers' may offer to buy your antiques, furniture or jewellery, at what seems to be a good price. If you want to sell something, choose one or two genuine dealers to value it or ask a friend or relative for their advice. Bogus 'workmen' may say that they need to come in to check something or make urgent repairs. You also need to be careful of callers who offer to make building repairs or tarmac your drive. Often, they'll ask for money in advance; they may even offer to drive you to the bank to withdraw money to pay them. If you need any building work done, get several written quotes from reputable firms, then decide which one is best. If in doubt, talk it through with a neighbour or someone in your family. Genuine callers will normally make an appointment first and will carry identification with their photograph on.
REMEMBER! If someone calls at your door: Check to see who it is through your spyhole or look through a front window. Always put the chain on before you open the door, keep this on until you have confirmed the caller is official. Check to see if the callers have a uniform bearing their organisation's name or symbol. Does the caller have ID or confirmation paperwork? Check this carefully, genuine callers won't mind if you close the door while you do this. Ensure your back door is locked if you are answering the door to someone you don't know.
What to do if you feel intimidated or suspicious: Trust your instincts, your safety is the most important. Do not invite the caller in or ask them to come back later so you can confirm their identity with their organisation. Call your neighbours and friends for support if in doubt. Call the police on 999 in an emergency, or 101 if you want to report suspicious activity. Never let anyone in unless you are absolutely sure they are genuine.
